She will be paid, yes. She can handle some work via phone, so there’s that. On the other hand, there isn’t much work to do in July in the first place. Her job is mainly to be there in case something needs to be done.

My wife is working for a multinational corporation. Their corporate network went down yesterday afternoon. Because all her work basically requires online tools she hasn’t been able to do actual work since yesterday. In the mean time she has been writing her thesis.

The reason for the network issue is a grass/forest fire close to a corporate data center in Sweden. The fire has fried the cables in the ground, and the fire is still going on. That means they will not have functioning network for a while…

I’m sorry for your loss. hugs

Welcome! It will be an interesting ride, I assure you. ?

Yeah, maxed-out machines have big differences, but I won’t be buying/wanting such. I will cope with a less powerful machine. The time I will spend the machine to do its work will be due to the inefficient process (JVM, Android Studio, etc.) and not because of slow hardware.

I have coped just fine with 16 GB. Then again, I am not running any resource hungry applications (except Android Studio) like many others. And on those occasions the OS has started compressing stuff in RAM (whatever the solution was called, can’t remember anymore) the system has worked perfectly.

But I do acknowledge that different people have different needs. Should I ever need that 32 GB of RAM, I would obviously buy the 15” model.

Thanks for reminding me. I have had my work laptop for 3 years in the end of August (when I joined the company) that means I get a new laptop then. I will be going with the 13” MBP, mostly due to easier portability. There is no such big difference between the 13” and 15” models that I would need the 15” model.

One can adapt to temperature changes by adding and removing layers but when it’s this hot it’s hard to remove any layers when you have practically nothing to remove. ?

Hot day. It’s only 0900 and it’s already +27°C.

Yup. Another example how people ignore the ripple effects of a seemingly simple change.
