The last day in London is now wrapped. We came to the airport hotel for the last night, we are leaving tomorrow morning.

Luckily the weather was perfect during the whole stay, it was mostly sunny yet not too hot. The mornings were, as one can expect in March, still quite chilly, meaning that a jacket was still needed.

The first floor of NHM was really underwhelming, and especially the dinosaurs exhibition did not live up the expectations. Those first floor exhibitions felt really dumbed down. The upper floors were much more interesting, they were clearly more refined to more adult audiences.

The Natural History Museum was a mixed experience. While the exhibitions were nice, they were not as nice as the building itself. Nevertheless, definitely worth the visit!

After the museum we went to a close-by pub for an early dinner. That was also a planned activity, it was actually an experience that we were looking for. It did not disappoint. 👍

Like said, there are so many exhibits in BM that are so extensive by themselves that one could easily spend a day just focusing on just one of them. The building itself is also pretty darn nice, so one could be awestruck by that alone.

The British Museum was, how should I put it, overwhelming. There is just so much to see, one would need to spend several days to absorb it all. We joked with my wife that we could easily spend months there.

Adding Kew Gardens to the list for my next visit. Based on yesterday’s walk in Kensington Gardens[*] the parks here are really wonderful.

I have liked the ”off” streets in Bayswater quite a lot. The overall feel has been calm and clean as there is not much traffic (compared to the main streets) and the houses are nothing short from beautiful (at least the facade is always kept beautiful).

[*] We had walked quite a bit already before we went there, so we wandered bit around and did not even go to the Hyde Park side of The Long Water/Exhibition Road.

A lot of walking is in plans, which is always nice.

Our hotel is in Bayswater (Kensington), and it fitting to our current plans quite nicely. Greenwich is a bit off, so we will probably skip it this time. The same applies to the Science Museum, but thanks for the tips anyway!

Based on the TV forecast the weather will be nice throughout the whole visit, the rain will start (or should I say resume) when we leave the country. 😆

Greetings from London. I arrived early today for a 4-day vacation with the family (minus one 18-yo child who has exams he could not skip) and enjoyed a beautiful day walking around the hotel. Tomorrow we shall go to the British Museum, and on Saturday we will visit the National History Museum. We have no plans for Sunday yet, but we are very likely just sightseeing then. We will leave early on Monday morning.

Well, it has a 30-month lease, so it will not be with us for ”many” years. I prefer to have my cars from a leasing company, which means that the car is (relatively) new and the services are included in the monthly fee.
