Their opening hours are fairly regular compared to what they in the other swimming halls in this town. For example, the hall closest to us is open Mon-Fri at very irregular times1. Also, it has one very small pool (not suitable for small-ish kids, though) and you need to have a multiticket that one needs to buy from another swimming hall2 in advance.

There has been talks that we would get a ”real” swimming center also here in Matinkylä where we live. Those talks have been going on since the 1970s, but this time they have assigned a place for it. I wouldn’t hold my breath until I can actually go to swim there.

  1. Though it is closed during the summer, like almost all swimming halls. ?

  2. You can buy multitickets (10 or 25 accesses) from any other swimming hall and you can use it in any swimming hall in this town.

I thought the center would open early as it does every other day (at 0600 on Tuesdays and Thursdays; at 0630 on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays; at 0900 on Sundays). Wednesday appears to be a weird exception day for them. ?‍♂

It was nice to note that the swimming center opens at 10 when you are at the parking lot few minutes past 8. We will go swimming after lunch then.

A co-worker posted a screenshot to the company chat of the forecast for San Francisco to where he will be going this week. According to the screenshot it will be colder in SF than here in Finland. He was pretty happy about that. ?

I’ve been listening to music a lot more lately. Great music combined with the free time I have had during my vacation (I know, ?!) has made me miss playing music myself. Maybe I need to dedicate some of rare free time to re-learn the basics again so that I can play some simple things. That would make me happy, I don’t need to learn any new complex skills for now.

Yet another weird thing in food production. Usually locally produced foods are not that expensive. Maybe they use some funky production method that is expensive.

Are watermelons import products also there? I would think there would be an area in Japan where watermelons would grow just fine, but it could be that the land is used for something else. Ours come from Spain (or at least the one we got was from there).

Tanning? Is it something you can eat? ?

I don’t tan either. When the first rays of sun hit me, any exposed skin gets burned instantly. The past 2 weeks have been a nightmare, it has been hot and the sky has been clear. No wonder we have spent a lot of time inside. It’s cooler here than outside even without an AC.

Well, being from the white North has its downsides too, doesn’t it? ?

The one we bought cost 1.39 €/kg (~181 ¥/kg). Naturally, the price varies depending on the season and the importer/producer.
