Would any one of you be interested in a blog post about testable and reusable Bash code?

Fuzzy. The one on the top left in the package front image below.

Random LEGO Super Mario enemy pack

Or when you can control the whole (or the vast majority of the) stack.

Wait, what? There are Super Mario LEGOs?!? Why wasn’t I informed about this?!? Of course we had to buy the Starter Set and one extension set when we saw them. And today we bought a power-up pack and a (random) enemy.

It’s LEGO Mario time!

I am inclined to do the same. But I will take a closer look at Apple Arcade as it should be a lot better in terms of compatibility with our devices than Steam or EA’s Origin. Then again, all the games our kids want to play are using one of those frustrating solutions. 🙄

Yeah… Though I think I have given up years ago when I started working on software. 😬

My older son has been talking a lot about a game he would like to play. It isn’t super cheap but not too expensive, so we thought why not. You might guess what happened when I tried to get the game for him to play…

It’s a Steam game. Fair enough, I can create a Steam account and download the Steam client to our computer. Well, I got the account created and the client installed, and the client was running just fine on the admin account of that machine. But when I logged in with the user account our kids are allowed to use, opening the Steam client end with an error that the application is corrupted or something. I uninstalled the app and re-installed locally only for that user account, but the issue persists. I gave up. I could probably check how to ”fix” this issue, but these things should just work™ , for fuck’s sake.

We have had ”a tradition”1 to visit Stockholm every summer. This year, due to the COVID-19 shenanigans and Sweden having worse situation than Finland, we didn’t go there. Instead, we opted to go to Mariehamn, the capital of the Åland islands2. It is a lovely small town, worth visiting (on a lovely summer day like today) if you have a chance.

  1. We have done it in two years in a row, hence it is already a tradition.

  2. While Åland islands are an autonomous part of Finland, they are closer to Sweden than to the Finnish mainland. Also, the official language of the islands is Swedish. Funky, isn’t it?

Is that attribute for the placeholder image before the user initiates playback?

Learning new things along the way while working on that repo is also pretty nice. Today I learned how to unit test Bash scripts. I have never done that before, but it looks pretty nice. 😊

My vacation has been relaxing. Luckily there is still 2 weeks to go. 😎
