Happy Yule-time, everyone!
@streakmachine It could be the web app itself that has botched the keyboard rotation. But it could be a feature in WebKit, the Apple-provided library the app is using here.
@streakmachine The issue is that there are 6 device orientations but only 4 possible UI orientations. That then leads to some funkiness when those 2 special device orientations have not been handled properly.
@streakmachine It could still be the issue I am suspecting. The device reports its orientation to be ”face up” that can cause this issue. I fixed a similar issue earlier this month but for the camera preview view.
@streakmachine In that iPad case, did you have the device on a flat surface (such as a table) when you opened the keyboard? If yes, then I recognize the issue and it is a bug on the browser.
@phoneboy I was more than eager to get that. It was actually the main reason why I decided to pick the M1 machine. The old laptop was running on fumes after half an hour if I had all the needed apps open.
@matigo Not much. I have been using Bash as my default shell, so I had to change it. For now, of course, I will probably do the same tweaks for the Zsh configuration at some point.
But otherwise, everything seemed to work very smoothly. And by that I mean both the workflow friction and the actual performance.
Got the new work laptop (14” M1 MacBook Pro) earlier this week. I must say I am pretty darn impressed how fast it responds. Like, the thing I ask it to do gets done almost instantly. Building the Android app I currently work on takes mere seconds, it took a minute at minimum to build it on the old laptop (now ~3 years old 13” MacBook Pro).
I am actually writing down my thoughts after a very long hiatus. You can expect a brand new blog post maybe next week.
@matigo Not that cold, though. 😆 ”Only” –15°C, with windchill well below –20°C.
