@matigo I find many of their (design) choices to be slightly irritating, and as those add up the overall impression I have of the service is not that great. There are a bunch of cool things as well (for example Actions that can use more than one configuration file unlike Gitlab CI or Azure DevOps’ Pipelines), but those small irritating things just keep on rubbing me the wrong way.
@matigo I would like to be able to close all those rings, as that would mean that I am active for real. Maybe one day I will be able to do that.
@matigo Git1, but not with GitHub. The issue is not with Git itself but the way GitHub adds things on top of the tool, that just feels wrong.
Mostly. I have a couple of Subversion and Mercurial repositories as well, but for work we always use Git.
@matigo The thing is that I believe the Move ring (active calories) should encourage one to move around more during the day. Setting it to a lower goal sounds like cheating to me as that would allow one to close that ring without doing anything. That’s why I have opted to have the possibility to have that ring incomplete on some days. I seems to be able to close it on most days.
The others, Exercise and Stand… I use the default 30 minutes for Exercise, and I might not get that closed every day. The same reason as for the Move ring applies here. The Stand ring is another story, it is very rare that I don’t get that closed. On those days I am most likely so sick that I just stay in bed.
@matigo I have not checked properly what it is, but I doubt it would work with my projects. On the other hand, I don’t like GitHub in general. The way it does things just does not fit into the model I would prefer to use.
@matigo Yes and no. The Apple Watch has the daily active calories target that I try to achieve but I haven’t actively gone for it every day.
I would like to get all those daily ”rings” filled, but I tend to look at the big picture on weekly basis instead. I should be trying to get to my desired targets, but due to various excuses I have not reached them for ages.
These are a lot better numbers. Of course, this time I went alone and did not stop to check the berries. 😆
But I still walk ~2 minutes/km slower than @matigo. Just saying, this is not a competition.
@matigo How old is your mother? Mine does that as well, and she is 71. She has had some major issues with her health for a while, which has, in my opinion, affected her memory as well even though she had passed some tests.
@matigo It is a park but not that kind of a park. 😊 One can roam around it freely or using those footpaths, it is up to them what they want to do there.
If I say that Espoo, the ”city” I live in, has also ”a central park”, what kind of an image springs to your mind? Probably a well-maintained park with trees and lawn with some bushes scattered here and there? Nope, this central park is not like that. It is more or less a forest with some wide footpaths that have gravel on the surface and lightning for the dark times of the day. Otherwise, it is full of trees, bushes, swamps and bogs (the first image, the footpath being ~15 meters away), rocks and cliffs, small streams (the second image, though it was dry because it has not rained for ages), you name it…
