@streakmachine Cool! My wife bought herself a pair of noise-cancelling Bluetooth headphones not that long ago. She loves them. I've been eyeing some good headphones too, but haven't had time and enough interest to actually make the purchase.
@matigo The funny thing is that I gave a presentation last Wednesday where I listed the features of successful software projects. The Douche was there, so he should know those things now. But apparently he didn't remember them 5 days later…
@streakmachine I do hope that the rest of the week is much better. Also, I didn't open the bottle yet, I was able to tame the frustration.
So… Like I mentioned earlier, I am working remotely half days this week. I informed the customer about that well in advance and they were ok with it. Heck, they were ok with it even last week. But apparently it’s not ok as our sales contact got complaints about me not being physically at the office in the morning. I’m puzzled and not totally sure how to respond to that.
Also, it turned out this afternoon that there actually are design guidelines for the app. I implemented a list that has subheaders according to the design specification (that was apparently copied directly from the iOS design) and it doesn’t match the ”agreed” guidelines. Who agreed those guidelines? Most likely the PO and the designer, I was not aware of them at all. They must have discussed them at some point when I wasn’t even working on the project. Did they document them? Of course not, are you crazy! But apparently that is my fault then.
I think I will open the bottle of fine whisky I have been saving for a good moment.
The kids have a vacation this week1, I am working only half days remotely. That way I can take the kids out to enjoy the snow and sunshine in the afternoon. That has been a rare opportunity in the past few years, we haven't had snow left at this time due to warmer-than-usual winters.
In Finnish this vacation is called hiihtoloma, which literally means (cross country) skiing holiday. I prefer the Swedish name, sportlov (sports/-ing holiday), it doesn't restrict the activities to just skiing. ?
@phoneboy I think any successful story will cause people to like and comment on LinkedIn. At least that is my experience. Also, I seldom see any unsuccessful stories posted on LinkedIn1, hence, that observation may be biased.
Disclosure: I don't log in there often in the first place.
Watched the very last episode of Bron|Broen (the show ended with this 4th season). That made me a bit sad, I really liked the characters they had written for the show. I will be missing them. But then again, I can always rewatch the show. That’s not a bad option, to be fair.
@peemee Pretty much what I thought it would do when its magical feature was first announced. There’s some fancy sound analysis going on. But then again, I know there are smart people working in that field at Apple. Some of them are my former colleagues, actually.
