Does not seem to be helping. I have pruned the cache, restarted the daemon, and still I have this issue. Well, maybe I can work on the CI machine to get the container build go forward.

It could be. Today I will test that theory.

When I run it on the CI machine, it has no such issues (it has other issues, as the Dockerfile is not complete yet). I am wondering if it has something to do with the fact that I am trying to build an x86_64 Linux image on an M1 Mac.

One of the steps in the Dockerfile (RUN command) that installs (read: downloads) stuff does not proceed anywhere. I can wait for minutes for the potential network issues to get resolved, but it just stays ”stuck”.

While Docker is a nice tool, it seems to have its quirks that make my life miseable. I don’t know if it is an issue with the M1 Macs, but I seem to get ”stuck” to one of the steps when building a new image. That annoys the heck out of me.

Also, found all parts of the Millenium trilogy [en.wikipedia.org] as well as the first part of its continuation trilogy from the second-hand shop1 we visited for 0,50€ each. And yes, they all are in their original language, Swedish, so I have a chance to refresh my Swedish skills while I read them.

  1. It is called Kierrätyskeskus, which literally translates to ”recycling center”. They have furniture, clothes, books, sporting equipment, TVs, etc. that people have donated. They check that they are in good condition, possibly fix them if needed, and then they sell them at a relatively low price.

Now I would like to know how the Soviet army armed those animals. Did they give them rifles, artillery, etc., or were they supposed to use whatever means their own bodies had? 🤔
