I have been wanting to start cycling as early as possible this Spring. The unfortunate thing is that my bike has quite narrow tires (28 mm) which makes the bike not to be safe enough to ride on the roads that have a rather thick layer of gravel that have been scattered to fight against slippery conditions throughout the winter.
To ”fix” this issue I have been eyeing wider tires that would still fit on that bike (35 mm or 42 mm). There plenty of options available to me, but buying those would also mean that I would need to buy another set of wheels with wider rim to make the wider tires fit better (the wheels I currently have fit max 32 mm tires). So, I would need to buy them as well. And while I am looking for the new wheels, I was thinking about getting a new cassette with bigger gears so that I could cope easier with the speed reduction caused by the wider tires and the gravel. In other words, buying a set of new tires turned out to be a bit more complicated thing than anticipated…
