@matigo True, true. I always recommend people to think the overall quality of a thing first, price should have a lot lower priority. Also, the expected lifespan of that product should be factored in when thinking about the quality-to-price ratio.
Speaking of acquiring new software when changing platforms, I always cringe when people say they absolutely need MS Office suite to be productive. But I also give credit to Microsoft's marketing team, they have made their proprietary file formats a de facto standard. Personally, I would use the simplest tool that works for a task on that specific platform I need to use to get it done. I dislike overly complex megasized applications that try to be everything for everyone. But as in many cases in life, people resist change and stick to the things they (think they) know.
